The Sakthi Foundation extends its helping hand to underprivileged children by providing them with good education. Sakthi Foundation's first school for giving high standard education to the underprivileged children was started on December 25th 2007 in a southern Indian village called Sendurai, Madurai (Dindugal) District, Tamil Nadu, India. The school's principal Dr.Madeshwaran, a well trained Montessori teacher at Chennai Abacus school initiated this project. He said the irony is that Lady Montessori who started this system of education for the street children in Rome now is serving only the rich affluent children around the world. His mission is to take this system of education to all the children without any discrimination of class or economical status. He says the education should be a journey to discover the joy of life.

Sakthi Foundation chose this village as its first project because one of
the co-founders of Sakthi Foundation, Dr. Sendurai Mani hails from this village.
With the help of many people, he has come up all this way in life and wants to
help other children, with his background. For this, we need your help.
About
Sendurai Village: Sendurai is a small village of nearly 5000 people with an average family
income of Rs. 50 (~1-1.5$) per day. The literary rate is approximately 5% and
the children of this village are forced to work in the agricultural lands as
labor to help their parents. Though there are government schools nearby, very
few children get good quality education.
Recent success is a child with Autism
who showed very good improvement within a month after coming to the school. We
also took the advice of
Dr.Soman
whose Ayurvedic treatment brought a tremendous benefit to decrease the Autistic
symptoms. With Dr.Somans' (click

treatment we are now extending help to
children with other disorders like ADD.
